No4 and No1 Enfield cutaway rifles

Are the training "cutaway" Enfields sought by collectors? Do they have any real collector value?

I recently ran across these at an auction and wondered what their value was.

You just keep finding the most obscure gun stuff.

I bet there are lots of LE collectors out there just dying to have these two.

That's a fascinating find and I have no idea what they might be worth.

      I am curious though.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

They are somewhat collectable.... However they are not always true arsenal made items. There is a guy who will do this for your for a price if you supply the rifle.....More a curiosity than a true collectable.

So, the question is...is this an arsenal cutaway or a made up cutaway?

          Some additional pics...

No idea what those are worth, but there has to be some value there. Those rifles are neat.

I can't wait to read the range report on those, Steve! I hope you get them :-)

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Bring it to the next match but I make sure I'm on the other side of the range when the first shot is fired.

I believe the bolt is actually intended for a No5 -- the hole in the bolt handle was part of the lightening features of the No5.

That round in the chamber looks pretty scary!

                      But very interesting, nonetheless!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

The No4 went for $310 and the no1 went for $300...to much for a wall hanger.

I certainly haven't seen everything in the Lee Enfield world but so far all of the official issue cutaways I have seen are 'skeleton actions' with just a stub of a barrel in the receiver. Nice Long Branch #4 in the pictures.
