they're not THAT common, but there's a few of these around. 43 is the most common year, most have great bores and are all original matching. without pics i'd say about $200.

Carbines have gone up a lot now that there are practically none being sold from "retail" vendors.
200 is probably a bit low now adays for a carbine let alone the more odd 91/59's.

        I'd say 250-75..

I see M44's in the marketplace once and a while for 325ish, which is probably too high

Actually, a 91/59 marked rifle is a bit unusual. Not enough so to make it really valuable, but I would say probably about $275 on todays market, maybe a bit more. It's a 91/30 long Mosin (yours being originally cut down to carbine length. The common carbines are the M38 (no bayonet) and M44 (folding bayonet), and both of those have purpose-made shorter rear sights. The 91/59 has the original long rear sight, with the graduations about 1000m simply milled off.

Given the bore condition and matching numbers, it will probably become more valuable over time. All Mosins are kind of capped in value by the sheer number of them on the market, but when the quantities start to dry up (and they eventually will), the more interesting guns (like yours) will appreciate in value.

It's not that old of a thread. And good on him for adding to the conversation.

I've owned over a dozen Mosins, and my 91/59 is my favorite by far. They are getting kind of rare.

I saw one recently around $200 at a "local" shop, but it was in an ATI stock

I got a beautiful carbine at big5 for $150. Gave it to a friend. Now that I want one and see them going for higher, makes me regret getting rid of it.

                  I am glad I got my 91/59 for $70

They're rarer than M38s, but not very widely known. Dimensions are the same as an M38, and shoots like an M38.

As for price, as others mentioned, it's same as other carbines. Right now M44s go for about $225-250, M38s for 250-300

i really do think the flow of mosins will dry up soon. whatever the reason the value will go up . you just can't loose putting them away. even at big 5 sale prices retail it will be a good investment.

They have been doing that annually for the past several years.

Please don't be offended, what does that have to do with this thread?

                          $275 for a 91/59?!?!? That's amazing.

I bought mine for $79 at a gun show in 1998.
