big 5 M 48 Mauser

i only have been collecting a short while. started with mosins. i now have 5. sold a 1905 M 91 tula to get a izzy ex sniper. i was not thinking much about Mausers. but i kept seeing them at gun stores. they seem compact and nice.
so i was handling one at big 5 and liked it right away. i know the lowly M 48 is at the bottom of the collector pile but that is fine by me. i did purchase a M 48 in very nice condition. i enjoy learning about a new to me rifle. looking forward to cleaning and shooting it. i think the M 48 is a good value.

I love my M48, its so beautiful. I too am a Mosin lover but the M48 was my first Mauser and now i have the itch to get more. Got my eye on a Spanish Mauser.

M48 may not as be collectable, but just as good as any Mauser.

This was my m48 that was suppose to go to BIG 5 but never got there and ended up going to a shop in San Diego were I picked it up for a 100 bucks. It was in really good shape.

i did not get the goodies that usually you get from AIM, CENTURY with these rifles. bayonet,sling etc. i guess i will pick them up at the next gun show. i have lot of 7.62-39 and 54r. not looking forward to stocking up on 8 mm. i still must wait 10 days to pick it up.

i bought mine from Big 5. the first time i took it to the range, i fired about 100 rounds or so through it, and just because of that, the upper handguard developed a huge split in the wood

Bought mine about 9 years ago from a store in San Leandro that had its FFL revoked. That was Traders. They had some pretty cool stuff for years at that store. As for the Yugo M48, they are fun to shoot and pretty accurate as well. I use the Wolf Gold 8mm.

You will be very happy with the M48A. It will start the itch to keep buying even more. This Big 5, 25% extra discount is to clear out whatever inventory that they have. My source tells me that they are running dry on many of these surplus weapons, excluding the Mosin Nagant. Only time will tell. One of the local managers is a weapons guy so his store is pretty up to date.

I wouldn't bother with a gun show, never seen a bayonet at a gun show that wasn't overpriced.

Samco has Yugo bayonets in stock, as well as an accessory kit for the M24/47 which should be the same (or pretty damn close) as what would come with a M48.

the normal sale price was 299. i got a instant extra 20 % off. so i paid 240 dollars for a nice M 48. very happy. love that dark wood. glad i was willing to open up to wanting a Mauser. what is ammo going to cost me retail. nothing special, i am only going to shoot paper at 100 yards.

I was just at the BIG 5 in Alameda, CA. They have a M48 on the rack for $299 less 25%. So $225 before tax and DROS.
