    USMC marked 1917 bolt

Recently saw a 1917 Eddystone with the bolt marked "USMC".

    Anyone seen this before?

USMC = United Shoe Machinery Company, they supplied replacement bolts for WWII Model of 1917 rebuilds.

Believe me, you aren't the first to think that the USMC on 1917 bolts meant the Corps.

You mean it's not the ultra rare Marine Corps alternate sniper/battle rifle only used by senior USMC Non-Coms after specialized training to infiltrate the Japanese Mainland??? Who knew! United Shoe Machinery Co.??? That must have been a cover company for the O.S.S.

Ha, I figured the Marines got those 1917 rifles issued during Vietnam or something.
Never get the latest gear, do they?
