Just wondering what kind of pistol would this be used for? US marked, made by Milwaukee Saddlery Co. in 1944...








Looks to me like a small diameter but long barrel...

Any idea of approximate value?

That is a US M1916 CAL 45 PISTOL HOLSTER for a Colt 1911 pistol. See the 1944 stamp? That's a WWII holster. Nice find!

^ that does make sense, as my father has a 1911, even though its a Springfield Armory not a Colt. Going to ask him where he got it.

And I talked to my father. It seems that this is not for a 1911, at least that is not what he carried in it. He carried a Colt .22 revolver in it...

It's a holster for a WWII 1911 and 1911A1 pistol. Just because your father carried a .22 revolver in it doesn't make it a .22 revolver holster.
