CMP ordering question...

I am very interested in ordering an Inland Carbine from CMP.

Just a couple of questions on the process...

Will a copy of my military ID be enough to satisfy the "marksmanship" requirement?

Also as far as CMP affiliated clubs, whats the cheapest and easiest one to join? I have read about the Garand club... is that the way to go?

Membership in CMP Affiliated Organization

In addition to shooting clubs, the CMP also has several special affiliates. Membership in these organizations satisfies our requirement for purchase. These special affiliates include: Congressionally chartered veterans' organizations such as the VFW, AL, DAV, MCL, etc. U.S. Military services (active or reserves), National Guard, to include retirees.

Marksmanship or other Firearms Related Activity

Proof of marksmanship participation can be provided by documenting any of the following:

Current or past military service.

Looks like you should be good to go without having to join any other clubs.

Another CMP Req question:

So if a group of friends and I go to Burro Canyon and do a round of sporting clays and a non-shooting girl keeps score, does that count as a competition?

Just get the R.O. to sign off on the form and it should be sufficient.
