Well, I have to say, I was impressed. I didn't renew my C&R on time. On purpose, mind you, as I my old book was getting ratty, and I wanted to move to an electronic format with the new one. But I had to re-fill out the basic form again and send it in. This was back in mid-July. I called yesterday afternoon to find out what was going on, and the woman at the licensing center in WV was polite, but unable to find my paperwork. She referred me to another woman, and I left a voicemail. Lo and behold, I get a call from the second woman this morning. She had my paperwork, and explained that the reason it wasn't in their system for renewals was because they treat the ones that come in after the renewal date as new applications. She was going to run the background check as soon as she got off the phone with me, and send it out tomorrow, assuming I pass. The whole time she was incredibly polite, and actually seemed like she wanted to do her job, and do it well. I wish all government employees were this nice and helpful. I was expecting to hear back from some grumpy troll in a week or two, with assorted lame excuses and complaints. It was refreshing being wrong.
