Chris Schact (customer service manager) over at Century came through for me on a rifle that I had been looking to get for a while. Order was fumbled/canceled but Chris made things right. Happy camper now.

Database integration is: A) Hard. B) Expensive. (They pass the savings on to you?)
Sorry to hear you are getting the shaft though, but hey, think of it as an opportunity to get into something else? Maybe from the private firearms sales section?

Yes just CA. Between our ever overkill, redundant, and flat out ridiculous Brady bunch and CA "evil features" it is becoming quite difficult to get anything good these days and when you can the mark up is just too much to justify. Even when it can be found for a good price many places just flat out refuse to ship to CA which drives the prices even higher. Then there is the 50 year nonsense (only applicible in CA
). It really is a huge cluster-bomb of insanity.

How much do you want one? Drive to cabelas near Reno, they had a bunch going for under $275 when I was there a few months ago. C&R it out the door, get that GL off the front, and drive it back home. Depending on how far away you live fuel costs may end up being a wash or even in your favor once you factor the DROS and shipping fee necessary for California.Comment

I want a CA legal version ready. I don't have the tools to take off the GL. I do love going to Reno and it's only about 4-5 hours drive but factor in a whole day of travel or hotel expenses plus gas ect it is just too much.Last edited by nick007g; 09-12-2012, 7:27 PM.Comment

Perhaps you could change your title to this post since it is very misleading. Still reads like you were shafted. Since Century expended their time to make you pleased, you could take your time to be fair to them.Life is hard. Being stupid makes it harder. - John WayneComment

Enlighten me -- is that possible, for somebody with a California ID (driver's license) to buy a C&R out of state and just bring it back? How much do you want one? I thought not. If yes, this changes a lot of things...sigpic Intendo ad sidera, aliquando ferio Londinium.Comment

If you have a c&r license, yes. BUT, you must make it CA compliant before bringing it across state lines. (read: remove the grenade launcher)LASD Retired

Good to hear!! That is some good customer service.Update:
Got a e-mail from Chris Schact (customer service manager) over at Century who had heard about my disappointment in not getting my SKS order and he went out of his way to call the warehouse and have them check really well. Low and behold they were able to come up with one more excellent SKS and it has my name all over it! My faith in Century customer service is restored! Especially considering they are a large outfit and I'm just the little guy. Should be inbound in a few days.
