What's it mean when yer on a "NICS delay" at CMP??

It was explained earlier in the thread.
Someone who matches your name/description is a felon,or cant legally posses firearms etc. When your information is put in the system and flag is thrown then someone has to go through manually and research
I'm in Ohio and it ahppens to me. My FFL has told me he gets Policemen that get deays. It can happen to anyone

Interesting that I have had to go through the ATF check to get my FFL03, which allows me to buy C&R firearms at my leisure; a livescan and DOJ check to get my Vehicle Salespersons Lisence, which allows me to sell as many auto/trailers as I can; yet in order to make a purchase from an FFL01, I have to go through an FBI check, each and every transaction.

Well, that may be the problem, but how do you explain the fact that I just ordered and received another rifle from CMP 1 week before I shipped this one back? Shouldnt there have been a delay on the other transactions too? Nahh, something else is going on, whether it's government incompetence (I believe they only pretend to fail) or something else I don't know.. oh well, getting my rifle back, albeit 1 week late...

Again, you wouldn't necessarily know if you got a DELAY on a CMP order. They don't tell you unless it's been 30 days and then they reject your order. You only got told this time because it was being handled differently as an exchange.

Well if you would read all the posts carefully you will see I have had the same issue going on for years
I started getting delays everytime on my NICS check about 4-5 years ago, went on for a year or so then they suddenly stopped.
About a month ago I got delayed again.
I always use SS# doesnt make any difference.


Delays are nothing uncommon ,it happens to many people

I called to find out mine had been delayed. They did not call me to tell me.
