C&r and shipping

If I sell say a m44 to some one can I ship it from say so cal to NorCal directly too them ? Or will that have to go thru an ffl

There is no law prohibiting you from shipping a 50+ year old C&R long gun to another California resident as long as they are over 18 years of age and you have no reason to believe they are prohibited from possessing firearms.

Most people won't do this though because it's hard to verify the age and identity of the person you are shipping to.

Interested in this as well since I am (no dealer licenses or whatever) about to acquire an early 1900's long gun from another hobbiest with no licenses/certs/etc. If he just hands them to me at the agreed upon price, it sounds like there are no registration/documentation requirements and/or state/federal fee's/taxes to pay - is that correct?

That is correct as long as you are both California residents.

correct, no C&R or license required to ship a C&R weapon, as long as the other person is 18 and a cali resident. Just get a copy of their DL and keep record.
