My Spam Can is Painted?! How to Open?

Please help! I really want to shoot my new Mosin Nagant tomorrow!

I tired to open my crate ammo and spam can, and found out my spam can is painted?! I can't open it with a can opener. There seem to be some sort of a tab on the top right. I tired to pull on it but not much is happening. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Haha I feel your pain. I didn't try to open my spam can until about 10pm the night before my first time out with my Mosin, scheduled for an early AM meet up. 1 1/2 hours later I had the can open about 2" and the opener was bent and useless. Fnally I jammed some tin snips in there and manually cut and pulled that b$&%ch open wide enough to start dumping the ammo out.

I ended up with quite a mess and tiny metal shavings in my hands from the effort. The end result though was an awesome day shooting the Mosin... The cheapest and funnest big bore rifle you can buy.

Actually, it's easier to use the opener that comes with some of them.

Anybody that grew up in the 60's remembers when everything had the metal pull around the outside of the can ....... coffee , ham and spam come to mine.

These are actually pretty easy to open if you just a screwdriver into the seams. I did this a fee nights ago.

i grabbed the tab with dykes/side cutters and rolled it around jaws. after the strip peeled off i grabbed corner exposed under where tab was. i pulled up and lid came off and puled rolled top cover off. then i could remove pkgs of bullets this was on 300 rnd can that had rnds in stripper clips. on 440 rnd can i used the opener that comes when you buy 2 spam cans..

Yes the older style cans I use channel locks for the fulcrum point and peeled it back from the tab. And then rolled the top back enough to get some out Y
