    C&R Lever Rifles?

So I found my M1 Carbine finally. (Pics in 10 days!)

Looking at Lever guns. I want one. I think a C&R would be cool, but I prefer a Large Loop Lever type.

Are they're any reasonably priced C&R Lever guns?
    Any recommendations?
    Any to avoid?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

I always hear good things about pre-64 model 94s

Very few, if any, C&R lever guns will have factory large levers. Any that do will be some kind of early commemorative Winchester 94. Large levers, however practical, are a recent development based on television guns. (Somebody please correct me if this is wrong!).

I don't really care for large loop. They slow down your shooting because your hand have to travel quite a bit before you operates the lever.

They do look cool, and useful if you wear bulky gloves thos!

          Pre-1960 Savage 99.

Solidly built, accurate, several calibers and variations to choose from and a cool rotary magazine that allows you to shoot pointy bullets. No large loops though.

I have a 1957 model EG in .308 that is awesome. There's a pretty big variance in price depending on scarcity of model/caliber. You can still get a pretty nice one for around $400-ish.
It cannot be inherited, nor can it ever be purchased.
You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent and cannot be lent.

            +1 for old-school Savage 99.

I had a Marlin1894 in .357. Lever was way too small for my hands & it hurt to shoot it. It was a fun gun tho.

I'll check those out! The 308 must kick like a mule!

All Winchester Model 88 lever action rifles are C & R eligible, regardless of date of manufacture. I have a first year production in 308, it is definitely quite the design and cuts a sleek profile. I've mounted a Western Auto "Revolution" brand 3 to 9X scope in a Pachmayer "Swing Lo" mount.
