Look for it on the same rack as the cleaning kits at Big 5. That's where I've always seen it.

It's been a long time since I've been in a Big-5, so I can't speak for their availability. I haven't seen it at my local Wal-Mart before, but I have seen it at two of my local gun stores and at Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga.

i thought of tung oil but i do not want to wait 2 days between coats. a product called LIN SPEED from a gun store stays tacky for many days. do you always thin out tung oil with turpintine ?

I use Tom's 1/3 wax AFTER several coats of Tru-Oil buffed to a satin finish.

I read somewhere that Tru Oil was the best stuff so I tried to find some. I remember look at it on the internet and seeing that they don't ship it to California. I don't know why, and was wondering but that's what I saw.

Just bought some from tabors a few months ago and saw it being sold at the show two months back. Why would it be illegal?

Tru Oil should be thinned with mineral spirits (available at any hardware store) in order to get it to dry quickly overnight to a hard coat. I usually do about four coats, sanding with very fine sandpaper between the first three coats.

Can't imagine why this product would be banned; it doesn't have anything toxic in it, at least toxic to touch (no reason to be breathing significant quantities of it that I can think of.). Also used for protecting case coloring on guns.

Yes, it's Ironwood sealed with French Red and covered with 3 coats of Tru-Oil and three of Tom's 3/1 wax. Just got a fresh bottle of Tru-Oil from Midway..no restrictions.
