Clean cosmoline or not????

Hi,

I bought some C&R guns recently, that i am not going to shoot for quite some time and they came cosmoline all over the gun. My question is should i clean them, oil them and put it in the safe or just store them with cosmoline, as they came with for long term storage?

how long are you not going to shoot them for? if i were you i would clean them out, headspace them and shoot a round or two to see if they are gtg. then i would oil them and store them. i just like knowing that if i need that gun its ready for use. but thats just me.

Take them to a car wash and pressure spray them down. Then oil and put away. Unless you are storing them outside where they will get wet you will be fine.

If your not going to shoot them I would leave the cosmoline on them. (Just my personal thought)

If you aren't going to shoot them for a long while, there's not much point to removing the cosmo now.

I agree, If you aren't going to shoot them for a long while, there's not much point to removing the cosmo now, but eventually you will need to remove the cosmo as it will start to dry up.
