    What to do?

    RE:

I finally got a chance to take my M1916 Spanish Mauser on Saturday and did not go well. It pretty much had the same results as the other one; a couple I had to use a cleaning rod to loosen the spent shell case so the bolt would come back and eject the shell. A couple of times the bolt would back but I physically have take it out ( once the bolt was back ).
    So now the question is:
    1. Send it back and forget it?
    2. Take it to a good gunsmith and see if it can be fixed (reasonably)?
(BTW-Anyway know of a good gunsmith in The bay area)
FYI - I have all ready fired off a gmail to SAMCO, waiting to see what they say.

Perhaps you can replace and use a different extractor?

What kind of ammo are you using? Have you tried a different brand?
          Because milsurp.

Yes, Is ammo new, surplus or reloads. Will a snap-cap work in the action?

            What is the caliber?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

You are looking for a shooter, not a collector right?

I tried several different types/brands of ammo; 7.62X51 and .308, some would completely stick (have to use a cleaning rod down the barrel and tap on the spent case to loosen it- some would on partly stick). According to SAMCO, it's suppose to fire 7.62X51 and 308. I just spoke to SAMCO and they are sending me a label. I am going to send it back, unless some one wants to buy it. I paid $205.00 for it, if some wants it they can have AS IS. And yes I am looking for a shooter, not a wall-hanger.

This is a bummer; I was hoping to hear that it was a fun shooter. I've been contemplating one of these rifles but given your troubles I don't think I need the $200 headache.

Give the chamber a good cleaning with a copper brush and solvent. Take it back out and see how it does...

If you reload, hold out for one in 7x57.

I have one that I've mostly restored (it was a bubba rifle), the bolt is really smooth, and it shoots very well.
