I think that the non-CMP Garand en blocs I ordered are terrible

Can anyone who is experienced with Garands tell me if using non-CMP, non-original en blocs would be the likely cause of all sorts of FTE/FTF issues? This is my first Garand and I shot it today for the first time, fell in love with the rifle, I was blowing up soda cans at 150 yards with iron sights, which for me is pretty good.

I bought a ten pack of these http://www.keepshooting.com/m1-garan...p-10-pack.html and upon examination, they look merely blued rather than parkerized like the one that came with the rifle from the CMP. The width of the clip walls, the gap between the walls looks inconsistent. The CMP clip worked perfectly but it seems like whenever I used the aftermarket clips, at least one FTF/FTE each clip. I just ordered a 25 pack of the CMP en blocs, but was just wondering, do these aftermarket clips seem to be the likely cause of my poor feeding performance at the range today?

Stay away from SF clips. To prevent any clip related issues, use only USGI clips.

I too have had trouble with SF clips. The 7th round would always come up and feed the round into the top of the receiver instead of the chamber. All other clips I got from the CMP worked flawlessly, with the exceptions of a handful that were either really rusted or time was unkind to them during the long years they sat in storage.

Stick to USGI for sure. Or the new production one's the CMP sells.

Thanks guys. Ordered the 25 pack from the CMP. Man, I fell in love with that rifle. Didn't even have to zero the sights, just took it out of the case, started shooting and was hitting accurately at 100-150 yards.

I have to say, between my Garand and my Mosin, they were both an absolute blast to shoot. My AR and AR pistol I brought, honestly, boring as heck to shoot in comparison. I think the C&R bug has bit badly, plastic guns just don't seem very exciting in comparison.

I'll trade you a Mosin for one of your AR's!

If it's a flawless condition original sniper with an original matched scope, I will consider that! ;-)
