    My AIM Mosin Sniper Arrived...

1944 with an original 1941 scope. Dark bore with strong rifling... in better shape than my Spanish Civil War Mosin. Looks like numbers matching except for the magazine which has been force matched. No sling.

Awesome Russian manual describing it as a "Hunting Rifle".

    Very nice.

Pics later... yeah I know... tease.

How about one of those blurry cellphone pics I specialize in, as an appetizer?

Well the scope looks cool! Love that oil paper on the turrets and scope cover!

How awesome is it that the scope is 71 years old? Pretty darn awesome I'd say!

I got one from AIM and one from Classic on Wednesday. They're still in the boxes No time to unpack until tomorrow!

What markings were on the scope? It depends on the factory, but sometimes you can tell the date based on the serial number of the scope.

Here's one, needed a battery change and I have some M44 photos to upload to another thread. I'm going back for more! Let me know if there's anything specific you want to see.

Do you have a reference for that? The "For Collectors Only - The Mosin Nagant Rifle" is a little vague. Thanks!

Look like a svt scope because of the "step" on the rear.

Almost a shame to remove the wax paper...

Yep that's an SVT scope. PU production started in 1940 IIRC for the SVT, 1942 for the 91/30. SVT PU scopes have that step on the rear of the tube.

The rifle looks good. For the most part, these snipers have been nice.

                            Thanks!

It really is awesome... especially as the gulf of time widens.
