    mosinitis

Just made the jump and bought an ishvesk M91/30 "sniper' rifle from Classic firearms and a standard M1/30 also. To add to these two I'll buy a couple more to fill up a few slots on my wall (when I get the wall). I have already planned to add an M44. Assuming I have another 3 slots only to fill thereafter (and not deep pockets necessarily), what other Mosin fun items should I buy.

So will have the m91/30 and sniper and will get an M44. Is the M38 the M44 sans bayonet? Sounds good. that leaves two slots? I'll have to research the difference with finn rifles.

Yeah the M38 is carbine w/o Boyo but M38 is more rarer and harder to get

            Basically, yes, just more uncommon.

If you only get one Finn, buy an M39.

Well remember that "wall" may be larger than you are currently assuming, so - just to be safe - you might need to create more "slots".

One idea - within the Soviet 91/30 category, there are at least 2 or 3 major sub-categories. Hex receiver/round receiver. Birch stock/laminated stock. Ex-dragoon, "regular" 91/30. Tula and Izhevsk arsenals. "MO" (Ministerstvo Oboroniy or Ministry of Defense-marked 91/30s (uh - and "double dated," and "triple dated" MO-marked).

You do the arithmetic (remember your combinations and permutations from junior high?).

I kept my mosinitis within check but did check a few of those boxes. Part of the fun, and you can still check several of those boxes and have spent less than $500 altogether. Best historic battle rifle value around, by far.

Most of the Warsaw Pact countries built their own M44s, so you could collect those as well as the Chinese Type 53.
                  Because milsurp.

i just ordered my sniper also. a M-44 is a must . my most valuable mosin is a 1905 TULA m-91. the rest are big 5 shooters. nothing wrong with a 118 dollar referb shooter.

Those are my faves. Hard to find good examples under the $500 range though.

Yeah, that's the thing; the price is exponentially higher...

SVT-40 has a Remington that's worth $four-figures. It's a work of art though. You can buy trash sporters all day for $200 or less.
