    Mosin Nagant 91/30 Fun

My first Mosin has always suffered with the handguard sliding forewards during shooting. I've replaced the rear spring and the band but I'm coming to realize that Ivan(a) maybe drilled the hole for the spring a little to close to the front-sight. It looks like the band doesn't slide back far enough to fall behind the "ramp".

Has anyone come across something similar? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

This rifle has a beautiful bore and I don't want to mess with it in any way other than to correct this small but annoying detail.

Hah, I suspect I will end up with more. Always more.

The bands are tight, just the rear band doesn't seem to slip in to the recess of at the rear of the spring.

Two things I did to correct this, drift out the rear spring and clean out the cosmoline/shellac/wood dust gum that was packed in the recess. Then I stuck some cork as a pressure point near the muzzle. That helps with accuracy and tightens up the handguard nicely.
