Buying in-state... when do I need to give a copy of my FFL?

I understand the need to log all C&R acquisitions and dispositions into my bound book in the capacity of being a licensed person.

Do I need to give a signed copy of my C&R to the other party when purchasing/selling C&R firearms in-state? If so, for private individuals and dealers?

It is customary when dealing with another 03 to submit a copy of your license when transacting business whether in or out of state.I have received 03 and COE copies when I bought from Calif 03's .Private individuals do not get s copy, I get CADL info and money.

When dealing with another FFL, one is required to record their license number. I guess I'm also wondering whether this applies to the seller... say a 01 FFL in state?

Basically if I go into Big 5 and buy YAMN (Yet Another Mosin Nagant) do I need to give them a signed copy of my license, just give them my license number... or none of the above?

My understanding is that you would only take the FFL 03 along with your COE to Big 5 (or other in state 01 FFL) if you want to avoid the 10-day waiting period after DROS. Either way you record the rifle in your bound book once you take possession.

There was a post a few weeks back about the 03/COE and the DOJ computer system not allowing cash and carry. I believe it was a user error on inputting the data into the system but I'm sure someone here will confirm or deny my interpretation on this issue.

If you're going into B5 and buying a Mosin while licensed as an FFL3; but without a COE; you do not need to give them a copy of your 03; but you do need to record it in your A&D book. You should record the FFL# of the dealer; but most are reluctant to give out copies of their FFL01. Most will give you their FFL01 number however.

Edit: so a 01 FFL isn't required to record my license number on C&R or other purchases... unless I'm also presenting a COE?

To a California 01 ffl you are just another buyer and your 03 is useless unless you have your COE to get past the 10 day wait. I have never showded my 03 untill I got my COE.

Your 03 is good for secondary ID on a hand gun purchase because it is a federal licence with an experation date. Some ffl's don't like to take it though.
