If it's happening at Oak Tree (which seems like the way it's going) post an update here! I'd be happy to bring out my Mosins. Also, I have a membership there so look into if that would provide a discount; I'd be happy to help out with that.

Cool, I never even heard of that site before. I would be in for a Mosin shoot. Would be nice to be able to shoot magnetic surplus, if possible.

Sounds cool. I've acquired three Mosins and only shot one of them. For me it would have to be a surplus ammo friendly range.

Oak Tree allows steel ammo; Friday from 4-10pm they open up the 50/100 yard range. Otherwise the rifle range is about 65 yards max.

I believe that Friday eve is also only $10 range fee, other days are $20 for non-members.

they DO NOT allow steel core (just to clarify) but they allow Bi-metal jacketed.(steel in the jacket)..brand names are best

The late '40's Russian surplus that is around now is a lead core (w bi-metal jacket)

No one checked or even asked about my ammo at Oak Tree. I have been part of the discussion over at SOCAMO and put up some great information about this very friendly range. I was using the 40's Russian stuff with lead core anyways, so I would have been within their non-posted or regulated restrictions (seriously no where to be found online or at the range). You are shooting into the side of a mountain into target holders that have cardboard backs, wood frames, and metal bases. The only other thing metal up there is this tiny steel target at 100 yards that is tucked very tightly into the corner of the hill.

They had a .50 BMG rifle on the range the day I went and shot at an exploding target. I did not ask the RSO, but I would think some targets other than paper would be allowed considering they have the space and containment for it.

It's a great place to spend half the day especially if you have some handguns as well. The range fee also includes the use of the steel pistol range and all of their bays.
