got a pawn shop 1955 Rumanian M- 44 carbine 2 weeks ago. after a stock refinish it looks nice. this week i bought a 1905 Tula M 91 from my secret hole in the wall gun shop. he also has MN snipers that he imported 30 years ago. same price as the so called snipers you can get at big 5.
you can put down mosind all you want i love them. i have 5 now and will keep buying them. not interested in all the other over priced surplus rifles out their.

I thought this was going to be a thread about girls from Minnesota.

    What a let-down...

There are better options for that, honestly. I wouldn't use an M44 for deer hunting in this state. Overkill, really....

considering that the most common deer caliber in this state is .30-06, it is ess overkill than average.

I can see a Mosin carbine making a great hunting weapon for brush. In fact if i had to pick a gun to take hunting right now, it would be a 91/59.

Sides m44 can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Great caliber for CA deer, actually. One of those Zastava mausers in 7.62x39 would be a cool CA deer rifle.

Yup can't go wrong with the 7.62X39. Good for CA deer, and wild hogs.

7.62x39 has about the same ballistics as the .30-30, which has brought home more venison than I think anybody cares to count. It works well on not just CA deer, but also East Coast whitetails.

As for the M/N Carbine, I see no reason not to take it hunting as well. The rifles can shoot, and the round is mid-way between .308 Win and .30-06 (the other classic American deer round) in power. It'll definitely turn Bambi into "what's for dinner." :-)

The M44 is a one shot one kill deer gun. You put a salt lick onto the extended bayonet, wait for a deer to be attracted then, one shot, one kill.
