If you bought a Garand from CMP ...

... and used your C&R as proof of "Firearms Related Activity", should you log your Garand into your Bound Book?

trivial, I know, but I don't want to log anything I don't have to.

    thanks.

Was it a C&R purchase? Or did you simply establish your credentials with a Congressionally established organization that you are eligible to purchase items from them?

As a C&R FFL you are required to log every single C&R firearm that you acquire or dispose of while you are licensed. It doesn't matter if you "used" your FFL to acquire it.

I'm thinking "yes" I used it to establish eligibility, but Elegante has good info.

I think I'll just enter it. Better safe than sorry ...

You do not "use" your license to purchase weapons, you are not a dealer.
With your C&R license you are a Collector and any C&R eligeable firearm you purchase while you are licensed MUST be logged
This is all covered in the rules and regs you got with your license

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I can't believe this keeps coming up.

Any C&R firearm that you obtain, no matter how you got it, while you are licensed, must be recorded in your bound book. Any C&R firearm that you sell or dispose of in any matter, while you are licensed, must be recorded in your bound book. If you send your C&R firearm out for repair, you must log it out to the person you send it to and then enter it into your bound book upon it's return. All this is in the regs.

There is more to being a 03 FFL than sending in the application and a check and then buying the C&Rs that you want. You are responsible for learning the rules that apply to your license. If you don't want to do that, surrender your license before you get in trouble or screw it up for the rest of us. If the Gov. decides to start doing more C&R audits, it appears that many people will be in trouble and the Gov. will have a good excuse to place even more restrictions on 03 FFLs.

Excellent point, don't people read the rules when they get thier 03 FFL?

Also I often wonder about the question on the Renewal Form about how many C&R's you "used your 03 FFL" to acquire or dispose of. At least I think there is a similar question on the Renewal, or was it when the BATF audited me a couple summers ago. Should I just tell them zero?
