    C&R transfer question

Hey guys, I have a dumb question. I have a semi-bubba'd Mosin (got it all parts mismatching, etc, project rifle so to speak). I made my own turn down bolt for it.

If I sell this, does it still qualify for a C&R FTF transfer, or do I need to put a regular bolt body to make it compliant? It's still in its original stock (restained)

I believe it's still C&R. You can scope a C&R and even restock one with a synthetic sporter and it's still C&R. I've never seen a DOJ finding letter discussing the bolt body, but I think you're fine. You've not permanently or functionally altered the gun, as you would if you'd chopped the barrel, for instance.

I don't believe that replacing a stock with a synthetic sporter stock would be allowed.
replacing the original firearm stock with a plastic stock would change its classification as a C&R item.

I know about the non-original style stock modification turns it into a regular FFL transfer (see all bubba'd Russian SKS rifles), but it's the modified bolt that's in question

If the turn down bolt is 'in the original style' they you should be OK. However if its a fancy fluted bolt (you get the drift) it is no longer C&R.

An interesting question would be - can you sell it without the bolt as a C&R? I.e. is a C&R with a missing bolt still a C&R?

Bubba Mosin in question is on the bottom. I suppose I could take my wall hanger Mosin and swap the bolt body from it, but it would detract from the potential selling price. But I'd rather sell it with the turndown bolt.

Don't think it would be a problem, the sniper version had a turned down bolt.
