    03 FFL Lapse Question

I sent in my renewal and they have cashed my check but I have yet to receive a replacnement license from the BATFE. After my license lapsed, I received an order from CMP. Do I have to log these in my logbook, or is my logbook null and void because my license has expired? Just curious...

If you got the renewal in before expiration, it's not expired. You just don't have the new one yet. Log it.

There was a box to check if you wanted them to send a letter stating your license is still good until you get the actual license.

You probably did not check that, so you'll have to wait until you get the actual license to make another purchase.

It cannot be inherited, nor can it ever be purchased.
You and no one alive can buy it for any price. It is impossible to rent and cannot be lent.
You alone and our own have earned it with...Your sweat, blood and lives. You own it forever.

    The title is....."United States Marine".

Yeah, the law specifically says that if you send in your renewal on time then your license is still good, even if ATF doesn't process the renewal on time.

Log it in the bound book that you were using when you placed the order. When in doubt, log it. They don't arrest you for too much information.

They don't arrest you for entering bad or incomplete information either (unless of course it's a different story if one makes a "business" out of being a Type 03 collector).
The most that can happen during an audit and seeing mistakes is 1, they'll guide you and make sure you know how to use a bound-book correctly and give you a warning. Or 2, in repeated mistakes there after, revoke your FFL entirely.

Then, if you try and apply for any FFL there after, you must report that you've had an FFL revoked at some time before and your chances of getting another one is drastically diminished or flat out denied.

Well, I do a pretty good job of keeping up with my Bound Book. Besides, I think this is going to be my last renewal. After this next one expires, we're all going to have to DROS our rifles anyway, so...

Hopefully, CGF will overturn AB 809.

If you have a C&R FFL and a COE you will still be able to have C&R long guns shipped to your door after 2014. And they won't have to be over 50 years old anymore. No DROS, but you will have to self-register.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the vendors are going to "lock us out" after 2014.

Hopefully not, but some (Sarco, for example) already have.
