Excellent Mosin Sight and Precision Review!

    Hello,

Been talking back and forth with a feller who is interested in what I'm doing with Mosins.

He has made the best video I've seen on the procedures I advocate to make the Mosin shoot extremely well without changing much at all. As I've said in the past, these are just a couple steps away from being very excellent rifles, and once those steps are taken, you get this!

The gentleman who made this is also a member at a popular gun board...

Though he talks some about my sights, this is not meant to be a plug. That's incidental, and you all know what I do anyway. This is just perfect execution of the Finnish techniques I've been playing with and slightly modifying here and there!

    Regards,

    Josh

I do not, but I can most certainly ask!

      I'll get back with you.

          Not much of a video.

Should have been named -- "How to make a horrible rifle a bit less horrible." If you are selling accurizing, that admittedly lousy final 100 yard group is no advertisement for the techniques used. And yes, those tricks can work but a 20/30/40? inch group is not much proof.

I skipped the whole thing, except the end because Mustang brought it to my attention.

SMH. Either his crown is super ****ed up or he sucks at shooting.

            I mean, this rifle (91/30)

Will shoot this at 50 yds

(Look in the far rear right, the circled 5 shot group, it's about 1")

            And this at 100yd

            Roughly 2.5"

The only things that have been changed to that weapon is the fact that its bolt is rebuilt and force matched (ditto for the mag follower and buttplate), and that its stock is a post war laminate. It shoots high and to the side because the gun is still "stock" if you will. This has never been "accurized."

All was shot with Soviet light ball LPS, 188 over year 1977.

So either that guy's bore sucks, or he can't shoot. But I'd expect something better from a "Finned" and accurized Soviet Mosin.

              Hello,

Mine are usually holes touching at that range. I just got glasses so we'll see what I can do next shooting session.

This gent, Graham, has not yet done anything to his trigger and it's throwing him off. This is the next thing we're working on.

I understand this as the only way I started getting awesome groups was after a vast trigger improvement on mine. (Finnish M39 style, but with bearings instead of pins and the inside of the trigger fashioned into a race for said bearings. Feels much better than a Mauser trigger now!)

Those single-hole sight-in targets should translate into the same MOA at 100 yards with a good trigger.

              Regards,

              Josh

                Hi Eric,

                He says,

                Josh,

I got the poster from "dragunov1" on ebay.
                I hope this helps!

Thanks, I'll check out this "Ebay."

Need to find myself a nice M38 as well.
