Swiss K31 not out classed by modern rifles

Today at the Sac Valley range High Power put on a 3x600 yard prone match. Three (3) strings of of fire, each one 20 rounds for record. Unlimited sighter shots on the first one and 2 sighter shots on the second and third strings.

M-1-42 and Oldshooter32 (Bob and Harry) brought out their scoped K31s. The match director lumped them in the with the tactical class shooters. These were the guys who did not have dedicated F Open or F-T/R rifles, but were shooting a scoped rifle. They all shot on the same target as the sling and coat coat crowd, and most all of them were shooting modern rifles such as AR15, Rem 700 etc. Except for kendog4570 who was shooting some obscure cartridge called 6mm International, which he shot using a scope, but from the slung up position instead of off a rest or bipod!

As you can see from the results, the K31 rifles more than held their own.

Thanks for the post Rob, I got home and being as old as I am, fell asleep for a couple hours. FX-05, here's all I took with my phone...sorry. It was hot and I spent my free time keeping the GP-11 and my K-31 cool. Yes, Harry and I were both shooting GP-11. It took us a few extra sighters to get going but after that I thought we held our own. I was shooting a 1955 K-31 with a 1951 Weaver K-3 w/post reticule,

6mm International, or also known as the 6 Walker, is one of the first 6mm wildcats based on the 250 Savage case. Developed by Mike Walker, the designer of the Remington 700 rifle. Definitely a forerunner of all the crazy 6's being used today. Owe a reacharound to Frank Ambruso (6mmIntl here on Calguns) It shoots mighty good. Much better than I did today. Won 1st place last week at Gonzales in the "Varmint/Bench" class in full distance silhouette, using iron sights against many scoped guns.
This is the first time I have ever used a scope from position, and I have to say it is quite a bit harder than it looks. A crutch.... ah, er, I mean bipod, yeah bipod, would have made it easier, but who wants that??

6mm-250. What rifle were you feeding it too?
