    Help identify this mosin

    Hey all,

Just bought my first mosin today. Took a picture of the marking on top but then realized when I got home that the picture didn't come out well. I was wondering if someone can help identify it.

The year listed is 1943 and the markings(orange part) had like 5-6 letters.

    Thanks

Looks like it's probably a 1943 Izhevsk, other than that not much to go on there.

        I'll go with 1943 Izhevsk 91/30 and a M&P 45 Co2 bb pistol ... great combo

Was it a big star or just a smaller crest looking blob?

i had a 91/30 with the orange stuff on it too. i've looked around trying to see what it means and the only thing i could find was that it may have something to do with an arsenal refurbishment.

If you stand 10 feet away from the screen and squint with one eye closed, you can barely make out an Izhevsk triangle

I think we need a new emoticon - "THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITH THAT PIC !!"

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.
