How does thing work?

When I rec'd my Spanish Mauser from SAMCO, it came with a sling.
(Sorry for the crappy pic)

A few of questions:


1 - Is it missing something?

2 - How in the heck does it go on?

3 - Is there something better?

IDK if Spaniard rifles come with 1.25" swivels, but I'm not sure such a design would work on a Mauser. I could be wrong. My only frame of reference are 98ks, and they have that rather lame sling, IMO.

Dennis, I can't see in the pic if you have the sling stud, looks like a brass or aluminum, double head rivet?
This is the only decent pic I could find of how it mounts on the rifle, seeing it is probably easier than me trying to type out mounting instructions. The buckles are different, you have the friction adjustment type, so adjust mounting accordingly.
