All of the "antique" rifles (pre1898) that can be shipped directly to your door that have russian aresenal factory stamps would be of the hex shape correct? And is 1898 the antique cut off date or is just a 100 years kind of like how C&R is 50 years? Thanks in advance.

A one hundred year cutoff would make more sense to me, but in the US antiques are defined as those rifles or rifles with receivers that were made before 1899, any with a receiver made in 1898 or before is an antique.

I don't think the Mosin round receiver came out until 1930, earlier ones should be polygonal, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm off on this.

Yeah, I sure wish they'd give us a 100 year cutoff for antiques!! Well I can hope, anyway....

The cutoff date is any firearms manufactured prior to January 1, 1899 is an antique and as such doesn't require an FFL to transfer it.
