My local Big has a 91/30 with PU scope for $700. The rifle stock is pretty beat up. The scope in a plastic bag. I have two 91/30's (both good shooters) and was thinking it would be cheaper, a fun project and take up less space to just scope one of them. Has anyone done it? The mount would have to be drilled and tapped to the receiver, my bolt sent away to have a turned down handle installed ($38) and the stock cut slightly to accept the modification. The mount and scope kits seem to range around $300. Some are reproductions, some claim to be Russian WW2. With having a smith drill and tap the receiver for the mount, it will cost about $400 all in. On Tuesday and Wednesday, a coupon will bring the Big 5 PU scoped rifle down to $600 plus tax and DROS and 10 day wait. What do you think? Do it myself?
