    CMP M1 Garand Grade Photos

Hey all I have been looking at the cmp website for a long time and was wondering if there are pictures of what the guns look like in the different grades?
I would really like to see what a rack of field grade look like. I have seen many Service Grades and they looks good. does anyone have pics of the lower grade Garand? Also can some one give any insight on the different manufactures? or at least point me in the right direction as to where I can find this information.
    thanks

I don't have a picture of a lower grade, but for the price difference, there really is no reason not to get a service grade. They are generally in fantastic condition for only $100 more IIRC.

I have seen Field Grades that look great and should have been rated as Service Grades and Service Grades that look like crap (not often, but it does happen), but meet the low end of the Service Grade description. The only thing that I have found to be pretty consistant is that if you order a rack grade and want a good shooter, you will most likley have to rebarrel it.
Best bet is to go with the Service Grade

Here are a couple mail order FG rifles. The luck of the draw has been good to me.

Pictures do not tell they story. You need to worry more about internal wear than cosemetics.
Can you tell which rifle is the Correct Grade and which is the Rack Grade?

Its impossible to tell a shot out barrel by looking at pictures of what the exterior condition is.
Chances are real good that with a Field Grade you will need to rebarrel, I strongly suggest you read the grade description and expect to get exactly that. If you get anything better it will be a bonus
The extra $$$$ on the Service Grade will be the best money you ever spent. JMO

CMP Service Grades are extremely good buys of late.

                    - High SN Collector Grade metal w/ CMP new birch stocks. (and now new CMP black walnut)
                    - High SN Collector Grade metal w/ very good USGI walnut stocks.
                    - WWII SN Armory rebuilds w/ Very good metal, re-Bbls, and rebuilt USGI walnut stocks.

I have received some of all of these over the last 18 months and all have had shiny bores and good to Pristine crowns, and not more than a Muzzle wear of 1+ and a Throat Erosion of 2+.

These ARE the Good ol' Days...
