The OP is funny! So's the other pic. To add a few other famous battle rifles to the mix:

The Mauser is the small-block Chevy of bolt-action rifles. Few parts, all serve multiple purposes. Best sporting rifle in history ever to be adapted to a battle rifle. Available in every caliber known to man (short of .50 BMG), the vast majority of sporting designs since then copied this action.

The SMLE is the Jaguar of bolt action rifles. Has at least three times as many parts as the Mauser, many of who's functions are a complete mystery to anyone born after 1940. Proper forestock fitting to achieve reasonable accuracy is as modern a science as making beer barrels out of wood, that don't leak. Due to the British stiff upper lip, the bolt-action Enfield soldiered on for three more wars (WWI, WWII, and Korea) after a newer design (The Pattern 1913) was intended to replace it. Still popular with third-world insurgents who don't have the ammo budget to feed AK's. No one has EVER been known to chamber an Enfield in anything BUT .303 British, and no sporting rifle manufacturer has EVER built a rifle in .303 British, except for the odd-few break-opens from Holland and Holland. Like the average Jaguar, those H&H rifles were priced so high that anyone who could afford one bought something in a Safari caliber, instead. The rear-lug Enfield action design has been copied by approximately the same number of sporting rifle manufacturers as the number of British automotive electrical systems that have been retrofit to classic American cars.

The M-1 Garand. "Finest battle implement ever devised" according to Gen Patton, who designed a new cavalry sword for the Army long after the repeating rifle had been adopted. The only battle rifle I've ever held that weighs more than my Finnish M39. Pioneered the use of the 8-round clip that could smash you thumb loading it, 2 decades after the removable box magazine had been perfected. (Hey, they had to leave one effective upgrade available for the M-14.) Dominated the WWII battlefields because the enemies still used 5-round bolt-actions. Ditto for Korea. The CMP poster that says "I let my M-1 do my talking" still brings a tear to the eye of every vet of WWII and Korea, and their not-so-young sons who collect rifles.

DISCLAIMER: This was all meant in fun. I have owned at least one of every type of rifle "celebrated" today, with the exception of the AK.

Relax MN fans. I've got all 3 systems and the MN is my favorite. Fact is, when all the AK, AR, and MN owners on Calguns have finally shuffled off this earth. The MN rifles will probably still be here and still be in fighting shape.

If I had to pick a short-ish range rifle, it'd be the AK for its reliability. For long range (including skewering a hog/deer from across the river), it'd be the M-N. Like the article said, the Jam-O-Matic--umm, I mean AR--makes a great wiffle bat.
