    Russian M91/30 for $619.99 at Big 5

Is it me or are they delusional? They had another one right next to it for $179.99... I just was burning time and was kinda surprised when I saw this. Are they worth that much? Cause I always hear people talk about the hundred dollar Mosin an this ain't it!

The tag said "Russian M91/30 Sniper Rifle"... I didn't bother asking to see it cause the price. Are the reproductions worth the price.

I owned one years ago. At the time it was under $300 new. seeing how repos are going from $450 to big 5s $600 that will be up to you price wise. The mount seemed solid, the optics were ok. Accuracy wise, mine shot good just like an average 91/30because it was. There was no special selection process at Century other than a clean rifle and bore.

My immediate reaction is they goofed up on the tags but you can verify the situation easily.

$619 for a repro? Plus tax and dros? I don't think I'd spend that much. You are probably better off with a straight shooting 91 that you can hang a PU scope onto for three or four hundred.

Yeah, I think you can get those for about $399 or $499 at some of the C&R vendors...

I'd pass, since it's a repro. For that much money, you can "make" your own with any other standard $89 M91/30, get Jim "The Boltman" Robert to make your bolt handle a sniper-repro for $57, install a Jmeck no-drill scope mount on it for $90, and stick a Redfield or Nikon $150 scope on it. You've got a heckuva shooter. Total expenditure (before CA DROS) = $376, with kick-butt, modern optics. Not bad, eh? :-)

                              i figure a mosin is about $150
well they did have to hand select a mosin with a good bore so thats $100 more
then you add a scope mount thats another $100
                              and a scope another $100
a bent bolt handle thats another $100

so you see how the little add ons can add up
