    CMP Garands Arrived

Two nice boxes of Garands arrived safely!

Both of these are the .308 versions (yeah, I hear you hard-corps '06 shooters hissing now.)

Nice, nice rifles. Tight and unblemished.

So tight that I am having trouble replacing the trigger housing group! Never had a Garand (or M14) so tight I couldn't latch it.

Will these pics be crappy cell phone pics or just standard cell phone pics?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

These will be crappy digital camera photos. Hoping to get better at it, but was raised on a Brownie box camera with something called "film" we used.

I better see pics of the BWT as he pull out of the driveway and when the driver is carrying a long box under each arm.

Used 126 film as I recall...though why I'd remember that I have no idea. Bought rolls that had to be threaded through rollers, then rolled to the right spot, hopefully.

Took them out to Sac Valley today in the heat -- couldn't wait! Both shoot ten-ring or better (better is when my son shoots with newer eyes) at 100 and we were dinging steel animals out to 500 meters all afternoon.
Had an override/lock back failure on one rifle and blamed it on light loads. Shot some of my "600" loads with same issue. Took it down and found a bit of metal shaving in the barrel gas port. Cleaned it out and problem solved! Nice rifles.

Nice rifles. Do you shoot at Sac Valley in the military rifle competitions?

Beautiful rifles! Congratulation. Are they both WWII receivers or post war?

The CBI tube the specials will definitely outshoot most (except for Vern Hays...phenomenal these past 3 matches). I have a CBI tube on the 1917 Eddy I shot at Saturday's match and what a sweet shooting rifle if only the shooter (me) is half as good I'll win the match each time but 27 just not good enough to beat Vern's impeccable performance of 34.

Old Joke, my Uncle told me.
A Farmer goes to the MD w/ a painful rectum. The MD examines him & says "You got Hemmoroids. What do you use to wipe yourself with?"
Farmer says, "Why corncobs, of course."
Doc says, "You need to use toilet paper till they subside"
Farmer says, "That's embarrassing to buy that stuff."
Doc says, "The drug store has it on sale in the front window. Just tell them you want 4 rolls of the window sale."
Well it took a week before the Farmer got around to getting to the drug store. By that time, they had switched the window sale to rolls of camera film.
The Farmer says to the druggist, I need 4 rolls from the window sale.
Druggist says, "What size is your Brownie?"
Farmer says," If I hafta tell you the size of my Brownie, then I'm just gonna stick with corn cobbs!"

                              Ba Da Bing!

OK you young guys may not get it....
