I know what you mean! Well heck, the K98k was considered a carbine by the Wehrmacht - its even named that! Same with the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield.

As far as the M1 Carbine - I was seriously pursuing gettin one not long ago. I figured it's really a great all-around firearm; harder-hitting and easier to aim than most handguns, but about half the weight (and a third of the recoil) of a full-sized rifle (or full power carbine). I have yet to get an actual M1 Carbine as I wound up with its latter-day equivalent, a Mini 14.

What? You've never seen the rare Oberndorf M-1 Carbine?

I'll bet those Mausers looked like grape stakes before they were refinished. With the RC's drying up and the demand still there, the bottom of the barrels will be scraped.

That reminds me, besides another Mosin, for my next C&R I really want a Mauser K98... But at that price, they can keep 'em.

Nice ones. Interestingly enough, the ONLY Mosin I own at this point is a Bulgarian M91/59 in beautiful condition. I got it about the time some came in about 6 years ago, and haven't seen another for sale since (at least in person; I am sure if I searched online I could find one). For what I paid at the time I should have got a couple more.

Oh, and I am wondering what those K98s looked like before they "refurbished" them. I can only imagine they would have used real junkers, or I can only HOPE they used real junkers.

Of all the mosins I've owned and shot, the 91/59 is by far my FAVORITE! I'd like to get an 8mm rifle that size. Any ideas? I've been looking at Persian Carbines, and the Carcano any other suggestions guys?. I'd like a G33/40, but they cost sooo much money it wouldn't happen for a while.
