      Continued...last one!

So, here is the modification to the stock. I am curious if this was done by the Armoury or a private party much later. Its a good clean job anyway...

Now look closely and see that work has been done on the stock here. Was this more modification or was this repair? They also did a good job here as well....

Hmmmmm, numbers on the stock match the rife too....

      End pics...

        RE:Swiss rifle

By the way , the prevous owner put a $3.00 front sight on a $2.75 rifle.See the 1904 sears catalog. That front sight is like new and it's worth more than the whole rifle.I've seen them sell for $275 on E-Bay.It's a Beach reverseable sight with two different types of front sight.Very popular on single shot rifles, not used much on hunting type rifles.

The proof and inspection marks can be looked up on the Swiss Rifle forum. The insert on the stock is most likely a Swiss Armory repair prior to the stock being sporterized. It's a great looking rifle either way.

sigpicCertainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter.

Hard to say as it has been sporterized. I wouldn't say too much, but it was nicely done. I've seen quite a few parted out on eBay, would, sadly, get you the most cash.
The .41 Swiss is a very mild cartridge. Pretty underwhelming if you look on youtube for examples of it being shot. I'm still a novice at reloading for it, but have the correct dies and bullet mold for it.

So were you successful? What does it cost you to make...say, 20 rds? And how underwhelming is it? did you figure out an accurate range that the ammo is good for?

If you make your own ammo you need dies $40, brass $48 for 50+ shipping, $100 converting the bolt and firing pin, components (primers, powder and bullets) and ballistics close to 44 magnum
