    1903 C stock--possibly an A4?

Glommed an 03 C stock that looks like it might possibly be an original A4 stock. I need some informed opinions...

There is a "K" stamped in the magazine cut off relief, but no ther markings that I see.

So the K denotes Keystone.. They did make A4 stocks, but also C stock replacements for the A3 and 1903.( I used to have one on a WW2 refurbed 03) It had a’44 barrel and was an early SN gun. ( pre double heat treated) I digress.. about the only way to tell an A3 stock from an A4 would be to physically compare them side by side. The A4 should have a noticeably deeper bolt handle cutout as the bolt on A4s is more bent ( to clear the scope).. this is from my old memory, so don’t bet my accuracy, I’ve been away from these rifles for a long time. Best of luck Mustang.

I could be wrong, but I don't think C stock replacements for the A3 had any cut out for the bolt. I don't think a standard 1903-A3 bolt requires one. As you say, however, the bolt handle on the A4 is modified for scope clearance and does have a bolt handle cut out on the stock.

I think your right Mustang. I don’t own one anymore to compare to, But web photos don’t show a cutout. I hope Crow is a yummy bird.
