    10 Gauge Brass

I just bought a Model 1887 Winchester in 10 Gauge and would like to reload using brass cases.. Have thus far come up empty for the 10 gauge or offers at $7.50 to $14.00 per case. Any suggestions on where to find them? Magtech sells 25 for a pretty fair price, but impossible to find.

Rocky Mountain Cartridge will machine new brass cases for just about anything. Their prices are brutal. $14-18 each. But it’s an actual option.

I saw that - ouch! Buffalo also has brass at about $7.50 per. Looks like Magtech no longer offers.

Am looking at low pressure smiokeless that is supposedly OK for damascus and old stuff -

      Low Pressure 10 Gauge 2-7/8” Bismuth 1 3/8oz - 10 rounds – Salt Creek Custom Ammunition

I've sent an e-mail asking if OK in the 1887.

I'm likely going to default to plastic and a roll crimp using BP substitute.

So balloon head brass like the Magtech stuff is very different offering than the rmc. Case walls, primer positioning, etc is not optimized for smokeless. Do some folks shoot smokeless in it successfully? Yes. But it’s unknown in terms of data. With a bp substitute I would start at maybe 70% of an equivalent bp load. Powder sitting below the primer in the case makes me nervous though. The rmc stuff is built like a conventional straight hull, so you would use more conventional components etc.

If you’re just looking to shoot it and reloading is secondary, RST ammo would be a good solution. https://www.rstshells.com/ out of 10 gauge at the moment unfortunately.

Thanks. If I were to reload it would be using a BP substitute and a modern hull.. RST is a good option, seems similar to Salt Creek. Salt Creek is $59.00 per 10 and RST is $43.00 for 10 rounds.
