The Mauser Standard Modell is a pre-k98 rifle, made by Mauser Oberndorf in the early 1930's. They were intended primarily for export, but they also saw use with the German military. The Crown Proof would be typical of the Pre-Nazi-era Commerical mauser proofings.
Pics will help a lot."What a lovely but absolutely ridiculous sentiment!"Comment

Congratulations on a great rifle. Unfortunately some of the buyers of the Standard Models didn't treat them like rifles, more like shovels. The Chinese ones are especially rough, but some of the South Americans didn't seem to understand corrosion either. But even the roughest usually have a usable action, and gunsmiths DO like Original MAUSER Mausers!
Pics would be essential to getting a decent evaluation. Another place to ask questions is the "Mauser Military" forum on www.gunboards.com/forums. There are other Mauser forums, but they will all ask for pictures.Comment
