Mosin Bolt Camming Surfaces Vid – For Anyone Who Has Ever Wanted to See Me on Video!

    Hello,

This identifies the bolt camming surfaces and a potential problem with current imports.

Clicking the picture below will open a new window. I am doing it this way as I've had requests for this sort of thing on several forums.

My previous videos were mostly text and pics – slideshows – but I decided to set a camera on the drill press and do this live.

There are various theories flying around about why the Mosin's bolt closes fully when only in partial battery. It's simply to keep the bolt from being open enough to become a projectile.

It is not, as some speculate, a decocker of any sort.

I hope someone finds this useful!

    Thanks,

    Josh

Ya got some nice man-hands there...
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

I better. Aikido and manual labor (the sight making) get to 'em after a while!

You know, I've noticed my site contributor thing is up... gonna have to fix that after more orders come in!

Hey buddy its obvious you are hands on and know your stuff when it comes to MN rifles. Video is a great way to share what you know and promote your product, and there is not shame in learning from the big boys at midway etc. in terms of presentation. You can do it and you are on the right track.

          Hello,

I did this very quickly and just shoved things out of their normal locations. I'm planning to redo it tonight as everything looks way cluttered.

          Thanks!

You don't have to clear all the clutter. Just lay a sheet or drape over the background, which will contrast & highlight what you want to show.

Thanks for sharing that. I don't think my M91/30's bolt suffers from that, but it's good to know for the future.

Holy crap now I know why the Mosin bolts sometimes need a smack and sometimes don't!

I'm going to try breaking that edge on one of mine and see if that is it.
