    Opinions on Astra 400 pistols?

For some reason, I got the urge to get some Astra 400s - in the last two months - I added another seven of them to the one I bought back in the 80's.

I bought that Astra book too.

I just wonder if there are other people with the Astra 400 bug.

Not me. I have an Astra 600. Cool pistol with an incredible history, the Nazi pistol where they paid for them but most were never delivered due to the fall of Paris. Mine has all kinds of crazy proof marks and is in decent shape.
But miserable to shoot, has the same , stinging/snappy recoil impulse as .40 S&W which is surprising in an all steel heavy as hell f/s pistol but the pure blowback does it in. Also, PITA to field strip and re-assemble so I don't shoot it much.
As collectors, I like the Astras but as shooters, I don't like.

I've picked up a few at the Reno show and LGS - latest with the 380 ACP version.

I've found them to be well made and function well. Prices are usually pretty good too. IIRC I paid $400.00 for the 400 and $495.00 for the 380.

So far as taking down for cleaning is concerned, I usually leave the barrel turned in to the slide with the spring compressed. Gives access to most of what needs cleaning.

Nice pipe wrenches. Good tip for the cleaning.

The price for Astra 300's seems crazy to me.

Quite a deal for the Astra 300 for under $500. I only see them for over $1,200 on GunBroker.
