    Very cool! Looks sharp.
I ordered a service grade and it seems there was some delays in just getting my info entered to the system. Took 15 days just to get a response that says they got my order. I hope now that things are working it moves faster.
You got to keep on keep'in on!!!!

The CMP side of things went great. The day before they tried to run my visa my wallet was stolen Since I had to cancel all my cards I had to wait for a new card to give them the new #.

Remember, when you open the action, swiftly lock it ALL the way back. Swiftly. You dont want the bolt to get stuck in that awkward and M-1 thumb inducing area thats at about 80% of the way to the end.

          Nice Teaser photo!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

              Need more pics man!

You won't be sorry. Of all the things in my safe, the Garand is the coolest thing in it. I've got 2 field grades (just got one for my son to hand down to him when he gets older) and I love them.

Just wait until you shoot it. There is a kind of communion with history that everyone feels when they fire that gun. There is a respect for the guy that carried it that is beyond words. Just feeling the weight of the rifle and imagining what it would have been like to carry that thing through Europe or through the Pacific Theater is humbling. Equal doses of American Pride, respect, and humility resonate through that rifle.

              Congratulations.

I borrowed my BIL's Garand to shoot a match so I could get this one The stock is dry and needs oil and the action is totally dry.
I noticed looking at my BIL's gun next to mine the trigger guards are different his has a hole on the back side while as you see mine is just sheet metal.

Yeah, the ones with the hole are milled and the one you have is stamped. It's a later version and seems like there are a lot more out there that are stamped. I am the only one among my friends that lucked out with one milled trigger guard.

I have been using Brian Enos slide glide regular for the action and it works well. But any grease should be fine.

I got a service grade last year (my 2nd) that I shot for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was the most fun I've ever had shooting. Easily my favorite rifle.

The garand is my next gun to buy. I need to finish my cmp requirements (proof of markmanship) and then I am good to go. Congrats though

I'm curious as to what problems you had with getting your garand. I got one from CMP a while ago and although it took a long time I didn't have any issues. I was thinking about getting another one.

Read post #3, he explained. I actually had a similar problem. The day I dropped my paperwork in the mail, I found out later that someone used my CC to buy an $1100 ipod man purse at louis vitton.

Oh, I saw that but I thought he meant there were issues with CMP.
