Looking for SF Bay Area Luger expert

    Hi all,
I am considering purchasing a 1937 s/24 from someone. We both generally agree it's probably been refinished but is in great shape. Neither of us are experts and are trying to come up with a fair value for it. Is there anyone in the bay area we could bring it to for an evaluation of what's been done to it, if it really is all matching, etc? Pictures only go so far.

    Thank you!

If it is refinished then all matching is not necessary as it is considered a “Shooter Grade” and lowers the price considerably. That is the experts advice. I do think that as time goes by and there are fewer Lugers a nice shooter can bring a decent price. Pictures do help in the overall as experts can pick out problems mortals might mess. There was a gun store that had a luger expert around Burlingame, not sure if it there now. I live in Sonoma and could help if ever get up this way.

You might be thinking of Krausewerk Collectables in San Mateo. I'm afraid they've been closed for several years now. I miss that place quite dearly.

best guide may still be gunbroker, closed sales, and the prices they show
