Hello Neighbors,
I need some guidance. My daughter's mother-in-law wants to sell her late husband's collection. I looked them over and I could help with most of them. The last two were trapdoor Springfields.
I know nothing about trapdoors other than shooting one back in my college days with my re-enactor buddies. They look to be original with long barrels, not the shorter barrels that I assume were cavalry issue.
One has a full length stock and the other has a stock that is about 12" shorter. The bores looked fair with visible rifling and the action and hammer/trigger seemed to function on both.
My goal is getting her a fair market value and not get ripped off by miidlemen or consigment shops.
I took a crude photo. I know it's asking a lot to judge a rifle basically sight unseem but what would your guesstimates be? I appreciate your help and your time.
