    The Fakes

Ok well nice to see a bunch of young hungry tigers get into the C*R world Especially mosins/mausers/SKS etc... However things are starting to dry up and unfortunately fakes are becoming more and more common in the market.

I would say Mitchells raises the bar pretty high...

Looks nice and it is a mauser...but not the Authentic German Mauser we all dream about.

    The SKS Chinese Honor Guard.

These are somewhat easy to fake but yet people are passing them on and selling them on GB.

    Mosin Nagant Sniper.

These are coming more about too and getting up there and price...scary.

Then there is Classics Arms mauser...Don't know where to begin there but they are leading the way in manufacturing "authentic" 98k mausers yet they are refurbs and restamped yet they are selling them around 700 bucks and getting them too.

looks very nice but wrong in so many ways its not even funny!! pathetic actually, however to the un trained eye looks gorgeous and legit.

Sad but a reality I am sure the hardcore guys can chime and they know the tricks of the trade but its a start.

hey sks? what is a reputable site to get classic guns?

depends...I am happy with S.O.G Right now because they shipped what they preached. Still waiting on samco but they are taking their sweet *** time.

For me I prefer FTF and hands on inspection.

cool, cause i was looking at expanding my collection to the german mauser....... i was looking at samco..... they have ammo for them too. so you wouldn't pick anything up from classic arms, how about that yugo mauser that they have on there for 279?

Well not Mausers, they do have good stuff don't get me wrong and I order the yugo sniper ammo from them and that stuff works great! But you have to be careful with them...like any where else.

Yeah i see they have 24/47 and they look nice too. However SOG and Samco have them for cheaper...yet the condition might not be the same. Follow? It really depends on you and your money.

Classics C*R pistols are great look how cheap those CZ-82s and Markovs are? They look nice too. Just need to shop around and follow the market.

Then there is the SKS world....

As far a true German K98s are concerned, there really none left, even the days of RCs are all but over. People are now manufacturing fakes of every kind, and Waffenamt stamps are now available online. So you can but the stamps, and make your own 'German Marked Rifle'. This has been seen more with 'German Captured Weapons'. Vz.24s, M95s, Mas39s snd even Mosin Nagants are being marked with stamps online and being sold as capture guns....buyers beware. Authentic German Mausers are all but gone from mainstream arms companies, and importers.

Yeah Dr. M is right those Big 5 98k RC's are almost gone but at least they were true RCs. Now we are seeing a whole new type of fakes that are getting more detailed all the way down to the waffeamts.

Came across this doing some research on the k98kforums. Now that's going down into detail on how to make them fake and such hu?

The only fakes I've seen in the mosin world are some snipers and the german WaA proofed ones. It's not a minefield for M/N fans yet.

Just since I first found out about it a little over a year ago its gotten worse, and its not just German and Russians weapons they're faking, its USGI firearms as well as anything else that people collect...I'd like 'Bubba' to get to them...see how they like being 'tampered' with.
