    Webley MK VI

Despite liking the top break and it's looks I kind of shied away from buying a Webley because it's lock up system reminded me of the old H&R or Iver Johnson mechanics - hand pushing the cylinder against a cylinder bolt that's integral to the trigger rather than independent. Handled one recently and got a good deal on a Mk VI is nice shape (River City Gun Exchange) and see that its lock up is just as solid and "bank vault" as the Colt.

Cylinder is shaved, however I reload so appropriate pressure ACP and AR are easy for me, will likely use AR mostly.

I also reload for the 455 Webley. Have read there's a metal shim similar to a full moon clip that can be dropped over, has anyone seen where available?

The internals could use a cleaning, but I haven't found anything on line that shows how. Looks pretty simple. Remove the V mainspring and trigger guard, drop out trigger and hand from the bottom and hammer from the top? Anyone done it, any pitfalls?

Neat revolver. British guns are weird...

It's actually kind of an odd mix of early model Colt and H&R. It uses a rebound lever and V mainspring for hammer and trigger return. The hand pushes up against the cylinder ratchet for a 100% rock solid lock up, more positive than any Smith. But the cylinder bolt doesn't drop into a cylinder bolt slot like a Colt, Smith or Ruger. The hand pushes the cylinder against the vertical stop of the lead cut.

Odd, but it works and handles well. I found disassembly/reassembly pretty easy.
