FFL Validate an FFL03 before shipping?

I had an ammo vendor tell me they weren't shipping to FFL03's because they could not validate any paperwork they received. Sure enough, the ATF's FFL eZCheck says up front that it does not validate 03 and 06 licenses. Is there a governmental site that an FFL CAN use to validate a scanned FFL03 cert before shipping?

From your link - "A phone number will appear on the next screen to call for a verbal verification of Type 03s and Type 06s or for any other license type that does not appear after proper entry of the first three and last five digits."

      - Yeah, they said calling ATF was too much hassle and didn't provide an audit trail...

Find another vendor, plenty of them will sell to FFL 03 licensee.

Do keep in mind that some vendors, like J&G Sales, will only sell to you at gun shows (in Phoenix) if your license is already on file with them and has been verified. They will not accept a copy handed to them on the day of the show in person. That is why it is good to send a copy of your license to the big C&R retailers so they have you on file.

I have done business with them where they are located in Prescott and overall, most of the staff I have dealt with are friendly, knowledgeable and good at explaining what paperwork they need to have (esp on file). I understand their policy as I know one vendor (selling to a CA resident) who got a fake O3FFL sent (about 5 years ago) to them, so verifying the legitimacy of your document sent to them is key. This was probably a rare occurrence, but nonetheless, I understand completely their no "We'll take ur 03FFL in person" policy. Every vendor as DRH mentioned, is different, but if you know a particular vendor at a show will be there, best to contact them and ask ahead of time.
