    SKS

I live in San Diego and have been looking for an SKS. Is there a gun shop or local dealer who sell them?

Keep a look out in the for sale section. One will probably pop up in your area. It's a lot easier to do a face-to-face purchase (as long as we are talking C&R SKS's).

It seems like everybody snapped up the yugo sks's which were the last big batch of recent imports offered.

El Cajon gun exchange had a couple last time I was there. Although the only price tag I saw was on a yugo and it was over priced IMO. May want to give them a call though and see what they have.

Well...I saw a nice-looking Russian SKS @ SoCal Guns in KM last week. And it was only...$600.

You can find an SKS or plenty of other Simonov carbines on GunBroker, but they are often overpriced compared to what many distributors are still selling to almost everyone except Californians.

I know its a bit of a drive from SD but Ammo Bros is cerritos stocks them, and usually has anywhere from 2-7 in the shop at any time. They are yugos and appear to be in decent shape.

J&G is very California friendly, but the M59/66 is not.

They are the 59/66 models at J&G but do have the mag that can be removed and as well they can be modified to take AK-47 mags.

I live in GA so there are many things different regarding CA I have to keep in mind.

The only problem with the M59/66 is the grenade launcher on the front. It is considered a destructive device in California. Some distributors will modify or remove the grenade launcher to make the rifle California legal, but I haven't seen any of these at J&G yet.

Oops, I was thinking of SOG. Sorry

This is from another SKS thread

SOG is always CA unfriendly. They said the bottom line is, SOG won't ship any kind of SKS to CA.

Just find an M59 (no launcher).
I bought a yugo 59/66 at the gunshow for 350 bux, yes overpriced but I love it. So smooth. I liked it so much that I bought a yugo 59.
You will not be able to buy a straight up 59/66. Your FFL will not allow it unless it's the butchered(like mine) CA compliant removed GL and replaced with a muzzlebreak bull**** that I think goes for 300 to 400 bux at gunsamerica.
GL finding one. BTW, check out AR15.com Curio/Relic sub-forum. That's where I got my 59 for 200 bucks shipped to my FFL.
