    Hatcher's Notebook download is gone!?

I've been searching and Googling for the Hatcher's Notebook
    free pdf download.
I downloaded it a couple of years ago, now I can't find the link anywhere or the cd that I had saved it on
Anybody know if it is still online and where?

    Wouldn'tcha know it!
As soon as I seek help, I find a download location!

I think stevespages.com used to have it available; but it looks like someone abused his site. So, he removed it and some of his other information.
His pages are still packed with a lot of good stuff, though.

          What Just Happened?,
          A couple of examples:
Ever heard of Ed's Red Cleaner/Lube/Protectant?
          It originated in this book.
I like the chapter on ordinance and gunpowder explosions.
He dispels some myths that are still held today about cartridges exploding or going off in your pocket.
There is much more in the Notebook that is both interesting and informative reading.

Actually, no I haven't heard of it. But I think I'll have to get a copy of it and read some. Thanks for the heads up.

The formula that was originally created by Hatcher has changed for obvious reasons (sperm whale oil is hard to come by...)
              Dextron III is substituted:

I made a couple of gallons of the stuff, then added the acetone to a smaller, separate batch for tougher cleaning jobs.
Normally, I use the stuff without acetone.
The anhydrous lanolin is at the drug store. Women use it for their breast's sore nipples when nursing, I guess.
The health food/herb stores carry it, too, unless they are totally vegan, since it comes from sheep fat, I believe.

Hatchers Notebook is not a notebook per say.. it is really a hard back, small print thick book! 630 something pages....

Thank's for the link. It seems like half of the gun related experiments on Mythbuster's could be answered by Hatchers Notebook.

Any idea why it is so large at 75MB, that is allot of space for just a book?

Is there another version somewhere that uses less disc space?

                        Anyways thanks for the link!

Like NRAHPS said, the book is 636 pages long, with photos charts and tables.

From zooming in on the PDF pages it looks like they were made from photo scans of the actual pages from the book, which tends to make for a bigger PDF file.

Not only is it scanned (which means you can't search it), but it's not the highest quality scan either. A hard-copy will be easier to read, overall, but costs more.

If someone wanted to OCR it and re-assemble, that would be awesome, if a little nutty.
